Leonard E. Dunahay Sr., was a former drag racer and stock car driver
Leonard E. Dunahay Sr., 73, of Beaverdam, died at 11:56 a.m. Oct. 11, 2013, in the emergency room at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Lima to the late Lowell and Mary Josephine Wolford Dunahay. On Feb. 21, 1965 he married Sally Eckenwiler and she survives.
Mr. Dunahay was employed at Teledyne Ohio Steel, Lima. He had been a drag racer and stock car driver.
Survivors also include two sons, James Andrew (Shawn Marie) Dunahay of Lima, Leonard Eugene Dunahay Jr. of Cairo, three daughters, Amy Beth (Bradley Darrell) Powley of Columbus Grove, Mary Jane Dunahay of Beaverdam, Sally Jo (James) Hauenstein of Lima, eleven grandchildren, Shawn, Jeremy, Tyler, Briar, Olivia, Hannah, Maggie, Cody, Tiffany, Dakota, and Sam, a great grandson, Brylan, three brothers, Charles (Patty) Dunahay, Steve (Melissa) Dunahay, and Todd (Chris) Dunahay all of Lima, two step-sisters, Melinda Ellis of California, Deborah (Steve) Stoner of Lima, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Dunahay of Lima. He was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Dunahay.
Funeral services will begin at 2 pm Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima with military rites. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chile-lamanfh.com.
