Junior High football Pirates bring home a trophy and a good time was had by all
You’d have thought it was 1991. But the players in the bus weren’t even born then.
Thursday evening the Bluffton Junior High football team rode into town like the champions that they are – escorted by fire and police vehicles and followed by lots and lots of cars honking, probably all the way from Columbus Grove.

Yep, you'd have thought it was 1991.
Mac Davies, junior high coach, knows all about the famous Dream Team of 22 season past. He was a player on the Bluffton High School state runner-up football team that year. He experienced several late-night parades through town as that team celebrated its way from Harmon Field to Massillon.
On Thursday, Larry Diller had the honors of driving the bus with the undefeated squad, noting that it was a loud drive home. He indicated that he didn't really mind the chatter.
All the hoopla came about as Bluffton Junior High capped its unbeaten season stomping Columbus Grove 42-0 on Grove’s home turf.
Following a parade from Grove Street, down Main, the team unloaded at the Ricky Matter Center, enjoyed a celebratory pizza and met their fans outside the Center.
