Friday chamber breakfast topic: "Egosurfing: You, Your Business and Bluffton
Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce invites the public to its Friday, Feb. 14, breakfast meeting. Paula Scott of PS Editorial Services, Bluffton, will present a program on "Egosurfing: You, Your Business and Bluffton." A free workshop follows the presentation, which enables persons to ask specific questions about egosurfing.
A free breakfast, provided by Richland Manor, will be served from 7 to 7:30 a.m. The breakfast meeting, held in the third floor of the town hall, is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
The breakfast sponsor is The Bluffton Icon.
"I’ll be looking at how your Web image is created. Can you or your business be confused with others? Is information about you being compiled by others? Do your customers post information about you?" said Scott about her presentation.
She adds: "Web content is found well beyond your own website. It includes social media, search engine descriptions or “snippets,” directories, aggregators, and more. Some of this text is easily created and updated by the individual or organization, and some is compiled or created by third parties. So even if you don’t lift a finger, you likely have a Web presence."
The presentation will also address the opportunity for members to shape Bluffton’s collective Web image, creating a more accurate and complete picture of our community.
Follow the breakfast Scott will conduct a workshop at 8:45 a.m. It will give persons attending a chance to explore egosurfing and content management. A laptop computer or mobile device will be helpful for this session.
Persons interested in attending are asked to RSVP for either the breakfast, workshop or both to: [email protected].
