Weather conditions do not slow down BFR’s Keeping Active schedule
This winter has been dominated by snow and cold conditions, two elements that can entice people to stay inside. At the same time, the extended periods of winter weather have frustrated people who want to get out and move. The BFR’s Keeping Active programs are designed to alleviate this problem. “Even with all the days with poor weather conditions, we are happy to report that individuals and families continue to take advantage of the free walking days, family events, and fitness classes,” commented BFR director, Carole Enneking.
Over the past ten years, the Keeping Active schedule has expanded from free fitness classes and walking days to a full schedule of wellness events. The full schedule of activities is available at the building, as well as on www.bfronline.com.
BFR will host a free family night on Friday, February 14. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with special activities from 6-8 PM.. Shoe-themed activities will celebrate the end of the Used Shoe Fundraiser for BFR. Heart-themed activities will mark the holiday as well as the importance of cardiovascular health.
Selected BFR exercise programs will offer free admission: the morning session of All Star Workout on Monday, February 17 (8:30-9:30 AM), the evening Cardio & Strength class on Tuesday, February 18 (6-7 PM), the early morning Total Body Conditioning (7:30-8:15 AM on Thurs. Feb. 20) and the morning YogaFit© class on Fri. Feb. 21 (8:30-9:30 AM). These classes, which meet weekly, will be offered without charge on these dates. New participants may try out a class for free on any class date.
For those interested in reaching or maintaining healthy body images, BFR’s Fit4Life meeting will be open to new participants on Monday, February 17. Fit4Life is a new support program that meets twice per month for a nutritional information or activity session. This week’s session is an activity: Amy Byers will lead the group in a variety of exercises using kettle bell weights (bring your own or some are provided for use). Stop by for the 30-minute program and learn more about Fit4Life
Programs are held at the BFR facility located at 215 Snider Road, Bluffton. Sunday, February 16th will be Coupon Day at BFR. Individuals purchasing memberships (monthly, 6 month, full year options) on that day will receive a $10 savings.
