Barbara Tighe, 1919-2014
Barbara E. Tighe, 94, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at 3:30 a.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, Ohio.
She was born on June 15, 1919 in Hardin County, Ohio to Elza and Sara (Wingate) Elwood, who preceded her in death. On August 29, 1942 she married Andrew "Andy" Tighe and he died on August 10, 1997.
Barbara was a registered nurse and retired as a private duty nurse and administrator for Avanell Stambaugh. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Ada. She graduated from Ada High School and was a 1940 graduate of the Lima Memorial School of Nursing.
Surviving are a sister, Linda Sue Webster of Sandusky; two sisters-in-law, Eloise Tighe of Ada and Joan Elwood; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Tighe, a daughter, Beth Jane Tighe; and a brother, Clair Elwood.
A mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 300 East Highland Avenue, Ada, with Rev. David Young officiating. Tighe requested to have no visitation and a private family burial.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ada Public Library at 320 North Main St., Ada, Ohio 45810; and/or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 222 East Highland Ave., Ada, Ohio 45810; and/or The Mennonite Memorial Home at 410 West Elm Street, Bluffton, Ohio 45817.
