Swiss Society's March 30 program focus on preserving historic photo and paper documents
The Swiss Community Historical Society presents a Sunday, March 30, program devoted to the care of family historic photographs, albums and paper documents.
The program, open to the public, held in the Patio Room of Maple Crest Senior Living Comunity, begins at 1:30 p.m. for refreshments, music, and social time. The formal program is at 2 p.m.
Adam Lovell, Curator of Collections at the Detroit Historical Society, will show how to identify, preserve, store, and present your family photographs, albums, and paper documents. Photographs are a cherished part of any family collection; ensuring their long-term care and stability should be a priority.
Lovell has extensive experience in historic object preservation and conservation. In addition to managing the extensive photograph and archive collection at the Detroit Historical Society, Lovell has managed historic collections in five states and overseas in New Zealand.
He received professional training at the conservation lab of the Oakland Museum of California, the National Archives and Records Administration, and John F. Kennedy University’s Museum Studies Program. Lovell currently supervises all archives and collections activities for the Detroit Historical Society, including a massive photo digitization project.
The program is free but donations will be accepted to cover expenses and support the work of the Swiss Community Historical Society.
