Everett Collier's summer plans includes 3,600 mile bike trip for a good cause
Bluffton cyclist Everett Collier takes lots of bike rides around the block, and this summer that block extends for 3,600 miles.
Collier will participate in the 7th annual Fuller Center Bike Adventure. It’s a bike ride from Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Astoria, Oregon. The ride starts June 5 and finishes on Aug. 10 – with several stops along the way where bikers will assist in building projects with Fuller Center covenant partners.
As of the of March Collier had raised over $6,000 for his efforts in the trip.
Collier said that the adventure has raised more than $835,000 since 2008 to fight poverty housing. Proceeds from the ride assist the non-profit Fuller Center for Housing. It works in partnership with families in the U.S. and 17 other countries to help persons build or repair homes.
Bikers on the trip will average 76 miles per day. The closest the riders come to Bluffton is in the Toledo area close to June 22.
Persons interested in donating to the project may make donations click here to visit Collier's donors' page.
