Hail to the prom king and queen - Tyler and Kit-Ann; can you name last year's king and queen?
Long live the king and the queen. While Bluffton High School's junior-senior prom goes back many decades, so does the prom king and queen tradition. This year's prom, held at The Centre on April 26, followed the years-old pattern.
This year's royality go to Tyler Belcher and Kit-Ann Knisley. The couple is in the photograph accompanying this story. A second photo of the couple, during their crowning ceremony, is posted in the photo gallery below. The prom king and queen are selected by a vote from members of the senior class.
For the record, the 2013 prom king and queen were Austin DeVier and Kyla Dawson. In 2012 the king and queen were Zach Shaw and Devon See. The Icon also provided photos of those couples taken from the Icon's archives.
To demonstrate the interest the prom carries among Icon viewers, consider the following stats from Google Analytics:
• The photo essay on the prom (click here to view it), had 1,215 viewers from Saturday night at 10 p.m. until Sunday night at 10 p.m. That made it the most viewed story on the Icon in the past 30 days.
• The Icon's Facebook page tipped off viewers of the photo coverage on the Icon. That Facebook page had 2,469 views in the same 24-hour period.
