Three firms sponsor Be A Beaver Triathlon
Three companies have signed on as sponsors of Bluffton’s first Be A Beaver Triathlon, to be held Saturday, May 31.
Sponsoring the event are CenturyLink, a Fortune 500 telecommunications firm; Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Co. of Bluffton; and Muddy River Bicycle Co. of Findlay, Ohio. Community partners are the village of Bluffton and the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on May 31 at the pool, the event will include a 400-meter swim, a 20K bike ride on nearby country roads and a 5K run through village streets and the Bluffton University Nature Preserve.
Finishers’ mementos will be presented, along with awards to the top three finishers in each age group. Professional chip timing will be used, with results available online afterward.
Participants may register online at www.bluffton.edu/triathlon at a cost of $60 for individuals and $100 for relay teams. Online registration will continue through May 29; those registering by May 23 will receive a T-shirt.
On-site registration will be available at the pool from 5-7 p.m. on May 30, with prices $10 higher, and from 6-7:30 a.m. the day of the triathlon, with prices $20 higher. Individuals may also register on site for any one of the three triathlon sports, at a cost of $25.
Proceeds from the event will help the Bluffton University cross country and track and field teams to attend out-of-state invitational meets.
