Lee Grismore taught at Ohio Northern University
Dr. F.L. (Lee) Grismore Jr., 77, of Ada, died at home on Monday, May 13, 2014.
He was the son of Fred and Princess (Long) Grismore of Pandora, Ohio. Born on June 11, 1936, he grew up on the family farm and graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School in 1954. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Ohio Northern University in 1958, an MSEE from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in 1961 and his PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970.
Dr. Grismore taught Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri School of Mines, Georgia Tech, Southern Illinois University and Ohio Northern University. He was dedicated to the ones he taught and mentored. He also worked as an engineer at Westinghouse and the United States Geological Survey. He served as a Staff Engineer at IBM and as the Head of the Microelectronics Laboratory of the Engineering Experiment Station at Georgia Tech.
As an entrepreneur, he was a founding principal of the Computer Avionics Corporation in Mt Carmel, Ill. He held six patents and authored ten major reports/publications.
In 1958 he married Ruth Ann Cole of Alger, Ohio. She and their three children, Stephanie (Steve) Grant of Denver, Colo., Douglas (Kim) Grismore of Monrovia, Ind., and Deborah (Darren) Bryant of Brownstone, Ind., survive him. He is survived by his brother, Gerald (Karen) Grismore and his sister-in-law Carol Grismore, both of Pandora, Ohio; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Fred L. Grismore, his mother, Princess (Long) Grismore and his brother Mark Grismore.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. Rev. Lynn Thompson will officiate. Memorial contributions may made to St. John Mennonite Church Missions, Community Health Professionals, or Lewy Body Dementia Assoc. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
