BVH associate named a "Top 40 Under 40"
BVH Associate Named a Top 40 Under 40 Laboratory Leader Blanchard Valley Hospital laboratory manager Shawn Griggs has been named one of the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s (ASCP) “40 Under 40” for his achievements in the medical laboratory field.
Griggs has been a BVH laboratory associate for the past 15 years. A graduate of Ohio Northern University, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology and completed a laboratory externship at the Boston V.A. Medical Center School of Medical Technology in Boston, Mass.
He served as a laboratory generalist and the blood bank/transfusion services coordinator at Blanchard Valley before entering his current role of laboratory manager. ASCP’s inaugural 40 under 40 program recognizes 40 pathologists, pathology residents and laboratory professionals under age 40 who have made significant contributions to the profession and stand out as the future of laboratory leadership.
The program reflects the extensive and diverse variety of interests, areas of specialty and improvements in health care that lab professionals are involved in, ranging from cancer therapy and the genesis of disease, to clinical trial design, genomics and personalized medicine. To receive the “40 Under 40 award,” applicants submitted a resume and an essay addressing their interests in lab medicine, the role of laboratory medicine in an evolving healthcare landscape, or the importance of the laboratory in the clinical care team.
