Columbus Alphorn Group performs at Swiss Day June 29; Schumacher Homestead open to public
You don’t need to travel to Switzerland to hear alphorns.
Alphorns are coming to Bluffton during this year’s Swiss Day, sponsored by the Swiss Community Historical Society.
Jed Hacker and his colleagues from Columbus, called Alphorn Gruezie (Alphorn Greetings), will perform on the horns and will explain how the unique Swiss instruments work.
This year’s Swiss Day includes a potluck at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, June 29, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road. Persons attending are invited to bring a potluck dish to share.
A 2 p.m. program features the performance by the alphorn quartet.
The Schumacher homestead, 8350 Bixel Road, will have an open house beginning at 3 p.m. Docents in period dress will be available to answer questions and host visitors.
All events are free and open to the public.
