Rachel Shaw was a former employee of Triplett Corp.
Rachel Shaw, 80, died on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 4:20 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
She was born on November 28, 1933 in Silver Creek, Ohio to Raymond and Zelma (Case) Vermillion and they preceded her in death. On November 15, 1953 she married Robert Shaw and he survives in Ada.
Rachel formerly worked for Triplett Corporation of Bluffton, Highway Oil Company, the Ada Herald and Allen Hughes Septic Service. She was a long time clerk for the Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District. Rachel attended Sugar Grove United Methodist Church of Ada. She was a graduate of the Mt. Blanchard High School class of 1951.
Also surviving are a son, Robert (Kathy) Shaw, Jr. of Ada; a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Brooks of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren: Robert (Brittany) Shaw, III, Sarah (Quinton) Schmidt, Adam Shaw, Carrie Brooks, Corrie Brooks and Callie Brooks; seven great grandchildren: Jace and Jayden Brooks, Wyatt, Maverick and Daphnie Shaw, Bryden and Issaih Castle; a brother, John (Marcille) Vermillion of Dunkirk; a sister, Kay (Earl) Todd of Mt. Gilead.
She was preceded in death by daughter Roselyn A. Shaw and sister Jean Hepner.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Lon Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
