United Way feature agency of the week: Bluffton Community Preschool
This is part of a series of stories featuring local organizations that received Bluffton, Beaverdam, United Way funding.
Where would Bluffton Community Preschool be without the United Way?
Bluffton Community Preschool is a non-profit corporation located in Bluffton, Ohio. Our preschool and its predecessors have been located in Bluffton for more than 30 years. Here at Bluffton Community Preschool, BCP for short, we strive to provide Bluffton’s and the surrounding communities’ children with a safe, healthy and fun environment to learn--through teaching and through play--the skills necessary to enter Kindergarten.
The United Way directly helps our families. In these difficult economic times, there are many families who would like to send their children to preschool, but are unable to afford the tuition. Each year the BCP uses United Way funds to assist as many families as possible with their tuition costs. It also affords us to offer a 50% discount on the second child’s tuition for families with more than one child enrolled at BCP during the school year,. Due to the many economic issues today, the need for scholarships has risen significantly and without generous donations from the United Way we would be unable to help those families in need.
As a non-profit corporation, our revenue comes solely from the tuition paid each year by our student families. Donations are essential to operate successfully. As with any educational setting, our teachers need to keep abreast of the best educational tools, some of which come at a great expense. The United Way funds received each year help us to purchase materials necessary to educate our students. This year we are using a portion of our United Way funds to purchase a new curriculum.
As we have all read, the Bluffton Exempted School System is one of the highest rated in Ohio. The educational seeds of many Bluffton students are planted at Bluffton Community Preschool. We have many second generation families and are looking forward to the third. We currently have approximately 60 students and are ready to grow with your children. The BCP prepares children ages 3 to 5 years old for Kindergarten. We offer 2-day and 3-day weekly class options. For the 2014-2015 we are now offering a 3-day class option for the 3-year-old class. We are currently accepting enrollment. For more information please contact the BCP at (419) 358-0268 or by email at [email protected].
Thank you, United Way, for supporting Bluffton Community Preschool these many years. Without your generosity, the Bluffton Community Preschool may not have had the longevity it has relished or the ability to teach generation after generation.
