Lincoln Highway Buy Way sale Thursday to Saturday (translation: more garage sales than you can possibly visit)
It’s a garage-saler’s dream.
The 2014 Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 7-9 is here. This is the 10th year for the sale that stretches across Ohio and touches the Icon viewing area big time.
The Ada community alone has 34 garage sales. For locations of those 34 sales, open the printer-friendly attachments at the bottom of this story.
• One attachment is a map of Ada and of Liberty Township. It shows registered garage sale locations.
• The second attachment is a list of registered garage sales by location and day of the sale.
In addition to the 34 Ada sales, the Icon lists over 20 garage sales that are independent of the Lincoln Highway event or that provide additional details of items for sale. Those are listed in the Icon's classified page. Those sales may be located by opening the garage sale map on the top of the classified page.
Ada’s Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) will have a booth on its Main Street with garage sale updates during the three-day event (see photo). Volunteers at the booth will assist persons looking for directions to sales.
“This event has become close to a household word in the last 10 years," said Mike Hocker, executive director of the Ohio-designated byway group, whose mission is economic development.
The first year saw 250 yard sales across Ohio's portion of the historic Lincoln Highway, America's first coast-to-coast paved road.
The sale population increased substantially each year, and parts of Indiana and Illinois soon joined in, with West Virginia and part of Illinois now setting out goods, as well.
Now Ohio, alone, offers over 1,200 individual sale events over the three -day period.
