Lima Rotary Club scholarships surpass $500,000
The Lima Rotary Club will announce that at its meeting on Monday, Aug. 18, its scholarship awards will surpass the $500,000 mark.
The Lima Rotary Club began its scholarship program in 2001 as an economic development opportunity. Applicants must live or work in Allen County and be attending an accredited institution within Allen County to be eligible for a scholarship. They are generally non-traditional and qualify by need. The goal of the program is to help the students achieve their educational goals, and for them to remain and work in Allen County.
With Monday's awards to 21 students, the Lima Rotary Club will have given more than $500,000 in scholarships to more than 750 students. The scholarships are funded by voluntary contributions from the club membership and from the Rex Perry Memorial Golf Outing.
For further information, contact Bill Timmermeister, scholarship chairman at 419-993-6000.
