"Music Together" offers music learning for infants to kindergarteners
Fall classes are forming now for “Music Together, The Joy of Family Music,” a program of music and movement classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners, according to Laura Hartzler.
Fall classes include 10 weeks of classes that take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept. 30 through Dec. 2. Classes are held in the basement of First Mennonite Church, 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton.
“This fall’s classes feature the Drums Collection – a collection of favorite songs, rhythm chants, tonal and rhythm patterns and instrumental play-alongs,” said Hartzler, who is a registered Music Together teacher.
“We will be shaking egg shakers to “Biddy, Biddy,” clapping, tapping and sneaking to “Clap Your Hands,” taping rhythm sticks to “There’s a Cobbler,” and banging on pots and pans to “Playin’ in the Kitchen,” she said.
All Music Together classes are mixed-age classes that allow families with children birth through kindergarten to attend classes together.
Hartzler said, “The mixed-ages provide a family-style atmosphere where each child is free to explore and play at his own developmental level, without comparison or competition.”
Music Together teachers include Hartzler, who is also the music teacher for Bath Elementary. She directs the children’s choirs at First Mennonite Church and holds a bachelor’s degree in music and master’s in early childhood education.
Also teaching will be LauraLee VonLehmden and Amanda Sprague.
