Carlson goal sends Bluffton men to 1-0 win at Hanover
By: Ryan Ebbeskotte, sports information assistant
HANOVER, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's soccer team opened up conference play in the HCAC with a 1-0 victory on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they visited Hanover College.
The Bluffton defense pitched a shutout of the Panthers behind Jeff Yoder's (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) 14 saves. The Beavers were outshot by the Panthers, 20-4, with just one shot on goal, but that was the only one that mattered as Peter Carlson's (Toledo/Springfield) kick went just over the keeper's reach in the 67th minute for the lone goal of the match. The Beavers improved to 4-7 overall (1-0 HCAC) while the Panthers slipped to 2-7-1 on the season (0-1 HCAC).
The Beavers travel to Anderson University in Indiana for their next match on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. as part of a rare mid-week men's and women's doubleheader with the women to follow at 7 p.m.
