Quakers notch first win of season over Bluffton men

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s soccer team battled to the end, but came up just short with a 1-0 loss to Earlham College on Saturday, Oct. 11 . The 18 shots, including seven on frame were not enough. Bluffton fell to at 4-9 overall with a 1-2 mark in the HCAC. Earlham improved to 1-9-1 on the season with a 1-2 record in the HCAC as well.
The first half was a constant battle for the ball in the midfield. For the Quakers, Ameer Vusuf led the team with an incredible goal just 15 seconds into the second half. Bluffton was unable to answer as the Quakers secured their first victory of the season.
Bluffton outshot Earlham 18-5, but managed just seven shots on goal while Earlham had four. Earlham was called for offsides eight times during the contest. Bluffton sophomore Jeff Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) had three saves in the loss. Seniors T.J. Kline (Mogadore/Lake Center Christian) and Peter Carlson (Toledo/Springfield) both finished with three shots on the afternoon while Blake Drewes (Archbold) added a team-high five shots off the bench.
The Bluffton men return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 as they are back home at the Sears Complex, up against the Manchester University Spartans! The match is slated for 3:30 p.m! Bring your friends and come support the Beavers!
