Engineers drop Bluffton 2-0 in season finale

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University women’s soccer team finished its season with a 2-0 loss on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Bluffton ended the season at 4-13-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the Heartland Conference. Rose-Hulman enters the HCAC tournament at 12-4-1 and 6-2-1 in the conference.
Rose-Hulman was able to open the scoring in just the fourth minute when Eliska Saiz tallied her sixth of the season to give the Engineers a 1-0 lead. The Engineers tacked on the clincher in the 74th minute by Helena Bomber to finish the scoring.
The home team dominated the shots category, outshooting the Beavers 21-4, including 13-2 on frame. Bluffton was led by senior Jessica Williams (Genoa/Genoa Area) with two shots. Keeper Katie Neeley (Huber Heights/Wayne) ended her freshman campaign with 11 saves in a losing effort. Lucinda Combs chalked up two saves to secure the shutout victory for Rose-Hulman which nailed down the #3 seed in the upcoming Heartland Conference tournament.
