TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bluffton University men’s soccer team capped off the 2014 season as they traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. and fell to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 3-1 on Saturday, Nov. 1. The Beavers battled back, after trailing 2-0, to get within a goal, but a late score by the Engineers finished off the visitors.

Both teams went most of the first half playing scoreless soccer until an own goal with 1:31 on the clock handed RHIT a 1-0 halftime lead. The Engineers outshot the Beavers 7-0 going into the locker room.

Rose added a goal by Dieter Schultz for a 2-0 advantage in the 65th minute. Bluffton got on the scoreboard in the 81st minute as Ryan Johnson-Evers (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) connected with fellow junior Blake Drewes (Archbold), who buried a header into the back of the net to make it 2-1, before a goal by Austin Webb in the 87th minute sealed the victory for the home team.

Rose's late tally marked the first time Bluffton had allowed more than two goals in a conference contest this season and only the third time the Beavers gave up more than one in HCAC play.

The Engineers dominated the shots category as they fired 16 to Bluffton’s four. Sophomore keeper Jeff Yoder (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) ended with four saves in a losing effort for the Beavers.
