Gaden Shartse monks perform musical form of offering here Nov. 13
On Thursday, Nov. 13, the Gaden Shartse monks return to Bluffton as part of their Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour. They will perform on the third floor of the Town Hall at 7 p.m. In the first 45 minutes, the monks will be doing a musical form of offering to the Buddhist goddess Tara.
This will be followed by a time where the public can ask questions about art, music, healing, and life experience of the group.
According to Wendy Chappell-Dick, "The purpose of the tour is to share with all people the monks’ culture, as well as practices and paths to inner peace and compassion. Donations raised by past tours support much needed building improvements, medical needs, teachers’ salaries and the day to day expenses of supporting the khangtsen. The tour's success is due to the help and generosity of those who support the tours."
The monks have asked for a donation of $10 per person, though nobody will be turned away. They will also display craft and gift items for sale from Tibet.
