Everett named HCAC Field Athlete of the Week
February 2, 2015
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Trey Everett (Sidney/Fairlawn) had a record-setting performance in the high jump at the SPIRE Midwest Open Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore cleared 6-11 to win the high jump in a field of 26 athletes, which included many NAIA and NCAA Division II competitors. The effort set a Bluffton school record (Jason Shatto cleared 6-8.75 in 1996) and currently ranks second in all of NCAA Division III. This clearance moves him into first on the All-Ohio list and first on the HCAC list. Trey is virtually assured a berth in the NCAA Division 3 National Indoor Track and Field Championships to be contested in North Carolina in March.
The track squad is back in action this Saturday, Feb. 7, at the ONU Joe Banks Invitational.
