Everett and Hunter named HCAC Athletes of Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A pair of Bluffton University track and field standouts collected their second Indoor HCAC Athlete of the Award of the season following a series of superb performances at the Joe Banks Invite on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Trey Everett (Sidney/Fairlawn) won a pair of events at the Ohio Northern Invitational Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the
second straight week. The sophomore won the long jump with a leap of 22’ 11.75” which places him 13th on the current NCAA Division III performance list. Everett capped off the afternoon with a winning mark of 6’ 9” in the high jump.
Sarah Hunter (Mt. Blanchard/Riverdale) earned a first place finish in the 60-meter dash at the Ohio Northern Invitational Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time. The freshman took down the field of 21 competitors with a time of 59.55 seconds, which places her at the top of the HCAC performance list this indoor season.
The Beavers will get their final tuneups prior to the February 21 Heartland Conference championships when they go to Defiance College on Friday, Feb. 13, before a host of qualifiers compete against the best in the state in the All-Ohio Championship at Otterbein University on Saturday, Feb. 14.
