Rev. Howard J. Landes 1932-2015
Rev. Howard J. Landes, 82, died at the Inn at Amethyst on Feb. 26, 2015, in Peoria, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda M. Landes, and his children and their families, Bruce and Roxanne Landes of Phoenix Ariz., Dean and Monica, Logan and his wife Lydia and Taylor Landes of Fountaintown Ind., and Alan and Vicki, Tiffany, Cassie and Joshua Landes of Niagara Falls, N.Y. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Landes, and grandson, Andrew Landes.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1932 in Germantown, Pa., to Rev. Howard T. and Anona M. Landes. He graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1954 and Taylor University in 1956 with degrees in Biblical Studies and Philosophy. He married Wanda M. Hochstettler of Bluffton, on June 19, 1954,.
Rev. Landes was ordained in the Evangelical Mennonite church and began his ministry in 1956 and served in the ministry for 40 years in Woodburn Ind., New Castle Pa., Farmland Ind., Farmer City Ill., Marietta Ohio, Hollandale Minn., Pittsfield N.H., Lake View N.Y. and Berkey, Ohio. He retired to Sun City, Ariz., in 2002 where he attended and on occasion assisted at Covenant Presbyterian Church PCA.
In 2012 Howard and Wanda moved to Amethyst Senior Living in Peoria, Ariz., where he resided until his death.
A memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sun City West, Ariz., with a reception to follow. Rev. Tom Troxell will officiate the ceremony.
