Bluffton Paving Co. awarded Klingler Road improvement project in Ada

The Bluffton Paving Co., bid of $1.3 million for the Ada Klingler Road improvement project was accepted by Ada council in a special meeting on March 10. The Bluffton firm was the lowest of eight bids.
The road improvement will extend from the railroad tracks passing through Ada south to Lima Avenue, about half a mile in length. The old surface will be taken up and the new road will be wider, going from the present 19 foot width to 28 feet.
The project calls for curbing and storm sewer modifications, including a retention basin.
A sidewalk will be installed on the west side for the entire length of the new roadway. Lighting will be added, as well.
The Village of Ada will pay about $100,000 of the cost while the state will contribute $1,200,000.
A decision as to when work begins has not been made, but it could start anytime after April 1. It is to be completed by Sept. 15. Attempts will be made by the contractor to keep the road open as much as possible.
That section of Klingler Road borders many ONU athletic fields, including the stadium, and is the "back way" to Lima for local travelers.
