Student art showcased in annual university show
The Bluffton University art department will present its annual Juried Student Exhibition from April 14-28 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will showcase work created this academic year by students in university art classes or supervised independent studies.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Boehr Award for Best of Show, which carries a $150 cash prize, will be presented, as will four Awards of Distinction—each worth $100—and Senior Merit Awards, which are granted, along with $50, to seniors who did not receive any other cash awards. In addition, a Best of Category Award will be presented in each media category. Cash awards are sponsored by the family of Bluffton alumnus Richard Boehr.
Students may enter up to three works in each of the following media: ceramics, glass, two- and three-dimensional design, drawing, computer generated, watercolor and painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. A guest juror selects both the works to be included in the show and award winners, including any honorable mention recipients. This year’s guest juror is Dan Chudzinski from Terra Community College in Fremont, Ohio.
