Iraqi refugee artists' works in university exhibit
Bluffton University will present “Iraqi Refugee Artists,” an exhibit of more than three dozen paintings, in the hallway of the university’s Sauder Visual Art Center from April 15-May 3. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The exhibit features the work of 12 Iraqi artists who were trained in Baghdad and had active professional careers until the Iraq War forced them to flee.
An exhibit opening will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. April 15. It will include comments at 7 p.m. by Mel Lehman, director of Common Humanity, the organization bringing the exhibit to Bluffton.
The works will be for sale by silent auction, with final bids taken at noon on Sunday, May 3. All proceeds will go to the artists.
