Hancock County Firefighters award scholarship
The Hancock County Firefighters' Association is pleased to award the 2015 Potts/Parcher Memorial Scholarship to Brent Warren of Jenera. Warren will be a sophomore at Eastern Kentucky University in the Fire Protection - Fire Safety Engineering program. He is a 2014 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School where he was a member of the FFA and achieved his State Degree in 2014. Brent is currently the Hancock County Junior Fair King and is a member of the Jenera Volunteer Fire Department.
He is the son of Bob and Becky Warren of Jenera.
The Potts/Parcher Memorial Scholarship The scholarship was created in 1999. It was originally established in the memory of the late Frank W. Potts, for his dedication and commitment to education in the fire service. In 2010, the name of Frank Parcher, one of the founders of the Hancock County Fire Fighters Association, was added to the scholarship title. Both Potts and Parcher dedicated many years to promoting education and training for firefighters. This was beneficial to all departments in the Hancock County Fire Fighters Association by providing our communities with the best in firefighting skills, emergency medical care, and hazardous material awareness when responding to incidents.
This scholarship is awarded to a student of a Hancock County School Senior Class, or a member of a Hancock County Fire Department, or a Hancock County EMS service, or a Hancock County Law Enforcement Agency who will be attending a college or technical school to further their education in the field of Fire Science, Emergency Medical Care or Law Enforcement.
For information on applying for this scholarship in 2016, see the HCFFA web page at http://hancockfirefighters.com/scholarship.html .
