Bluffton's second National Night Out is from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool, according to Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton police department.

The department, in conjunction with the Pandora Police Department are in charge of the event and the Bluffton, Beaverdam and Pandora fire and EMS departments will participate. 

Oglesbee said, "The Bluffton, Pandora, and Beaverdam communities are all invited to attend. Last year we had a great turnout with almost 500 residents. We hope to have more  attend this year."  

This year's event includes:
• Free pool admission all day 
• “Touch a Truck” display
• bounce houses
• face painting
• fire truck rides
• Additional events are in the planning stages.

Also, free food - and a request for volunteers:

"Last year's event was possible through generous monetary and food donations from local businesses and individuals," said Oglesbee. "I'm hoping for local donations to assist putting on this event this year."   

Like last year there be free hotdogs, chips and drinks. Any food donations will be used for the meal, and any monetary donations will be used to assist with food, advertising, entertainment and handouts to persons attending.

Oglesbee needs volunteers in two shifts this year.  
• One shift is from 5 p.m. -7 p.m.
• and another from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. 

"Please let me know if you or your organization can help either monetarily, with food donations or with volunteers," he said.
