Lifelong Bluffton resident, Betty Steiner was a 1939 graduate of Bluffton HS
Betty Cecilia (Reichenbach) Steiner, 94, died at 7:15 a.m. July 23, 2015, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
She was born March 10, 1921, in Bluffton, to David and Lucille (Welty) Reichenbach, who preceded her in death. On April 21, 1957, she married Evan W. Steiner, who preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1985.
She graduated from Bluffton High School in 1939 and remained close with her classmates, often helping to plan their reunions. As a young woman, she worked for her father at Reichenbach Garage, and as a “Hello Girl” at the Bluffton Telephone Office before becoming a full-time homemaker.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church of Bluffton and a volunteer at Bluffton Hospital and the Et Cetera Shop in Bluffton.
Survivors include: two sons, Daryl D. (Kathy) Steiner and Gary D. (Brenda) Steiner, both of Bluffton; four grandchildren, Gregory (Catherine) Steiner of Milan, Mich., Keri (David) Kozlowsko of Hilliard, Autumn Steiner of Parrish, Fla., and Evan Steiner of Bluffton; and one great-grandchild, Blake Kozlowsko.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Bill Herr will conduct the memorial service at the funeral home immediately following the visitation. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, First Mennonite Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
