BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team started the 2015 season with a tough loss in its home opener. The Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets (1-0) opened the season with an 11-0 shutout.
The beginning of the first half was a battle with one shot after another between the two teams. It wasn't until nine minutes in when the first goal was scored by Audrie Wolfe of the visitors. Bluffton struggled to maintain possession as the bulk of the match was played on the home end of the field.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Beavers, 28-10, including 18-7 on frame. The home team was led by Ashley Keller (Piqua/Lehman Catholic) with a total of five shots. Bluffton senior Sarah Lawerence (Wapakoneta) made seven saves in a losing effort, while counterpart Emily Tallmadge picked up five saves.
The Beavers will play again this Saturday, Sept. 5 at 3 p.m. The contest is on the road at Marygrove College. Stayed tuned for live stats to cheer on your Bluffton University Beavers!
