Volleyball spikes Anderson for 11th straight win

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Tonight’s Heartland Conference match brought Anderson University to the Sommer Center for a mid- week battle. The Beavers came into the evening 4-0 in the conference, while the Ravens were 0-4. Bluffton's 3-0 sweep helped the Beavers improve to 14-6 overall and 5-0 in the HCAC following their 11th consecutive victory!
Bluffton jumped out to a hot start in set one, winning 25-8 before Anderson knew what hit them. The Beavers continued on the hot streak into set two, winning, 25-17. The Ravens came out strong in the finale, taking the early 7-4 lead, but with a solid team effort the Beavers ended up winning 25-17 again.
Freshman sensation ERIN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) had 42 assists for the match as three different hitters forged standout numbers for the Beaver offense. The outsides, MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) and KENDRA PARMENTER (Grove City), led the offense with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. JENNY BROWN (St. Marys/Memorial) added 11 kills along with a block.
LAUREN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) led the defense at the net with a solo block and three block assists. Libero SYDNEY MOHLER (Lima/Central Catholic) paced the back-row with 12 digs. ERIN HELMS (Arlington), ABBY ROHRBACH (New Knoxville) and McFarlin each added seven digs for the Beavers. Bluffton is now on an 11-match winning streak which has propelled them to 5-0 in the conference and 14-6 overall
Bluffton will travel to Grand Rapid, Mich. to play in the prestigious Midwest Invitational at Calvin College. Bluffton will play Friday against host Calvin at 2 p.m. and Hope College at 7 p.m. Saturday they will turn around and face Elmhurst at 12 p.m. and Carthage at 4 p.m. as all four Bluffton opponents are ranked in the top 15 nationally!
