Service-learning is topic of talk in Founders Hall
Dr. Jeffrey Bouman, director of the Service-Learning Center at Calvin College, will discuss “Serving to Learn, Learning to Serve: Deepening Connections between Pedagogy and Practice, Locally and Globally” in a Bluffton University Forum on Nov. 17.
Free and open to the public, the program will begin at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall.
Drawing on experience with students, faculty and community partners in the U.S., as well as with academic programs abroad, Bouman will address the ways in which student learning and development happen in a variety of contexts. Among his topics will be the relationship between different Christian traditions in terms of how religiously affiliated colleges and universities have engaged in student activism, service-learning and community engagement activities.
