University senior earns full graduate scholarship to BGSU
Sarah Dhondt, a senior from Perrysburg, Ohio, is Bluffton University’s fourth recipient of a full scholarship to Bowling Green State University’s master of accountancy program.
Dhondt has earned the Beaver-Falcon MAcc Scholarship, a Bluffton-Bowling Green partnership that includes a full-tuition award plus a paid graduate assistantship for a Bluffton accounting graduate.
A 2012 graduate of Perrysburg High School, Dhondt is majoring in both accounting and business administration at Bluffton, with a concentration in finance. She received one of the university’s top scholarships for incoming students—the Presidential Scholarship—and has been a dean’s list student and a member of the Honors Program. She is also a Student Ambassador and a member of the Student Ambassador Leadership Team, as well as a business department assistant, a statistics tutor, an admissions intern and a recipient of the Financial Executives International Award.
Last summer, Dhondt was an intern in the Financial Leadership Development Program at Owens-Illinois Inc., and next spring, she will serve a finance co-op with Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.
Beginning in fall 2016, Dhondt plans to pursue both the taxation and the accounting and auditing tracks of study at Bowling Green. Her graduate assistantship work can be completed in the areas of research, teaching or general program support. Completion of the master’s program will give her the 150 hours of study required to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam.
“I am very excited and grateful to be this year’s recipient of the Beaver-Falcon MAcc Scholarship,” Dhondt said. “The partnership Bluffton has with Bowling Green State University is a fantastic opportunity for accounting students. I was able to receive a great foundational education, with individual attention and support that a smaller school can provide, for my undergraduate degree, and now I have the opportunity to move on to a bigger school, with an excellent MAcc program, for my graduate degree.”
