Margie Geiger 1935-2015
Margie Charlene Geiger, 80, died Dec. 18, 2015, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
Margie was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Riley Township, Putnam County, Ohio, to Alvan and Mary Christina (Lora) Basinger who preceded her in death. On March 21, 1954, she married Merrel Dwight Geiger who preceded her in death on July 16, 1990.
Margie retired as a postal clerk from the Lima Post Office. She also worked at several other post offices, Snyder-Reese Insurance, Pandora, and at Geiger's Dutch Corner, the small store she owned with her late husband. She was an active member of St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora, where she taught Sunday School and participated in the choir and Women's groups. Margie volunteered at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
Survivors include a son, Craig Geiger of Columbus; two daughters, Marcia Coppler of Bluffton, Natalie Geiger of Pandora; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by two brothers Roger Basinger and Naden Basinger; and four sisters, Donna Kacerek, Caris Veazey, Myra West and Bette Barre.
Services will be held Monday Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. Rev. Lynn Thompson to officiate the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora following the service.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 pm - 6 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Mennonite Church, Lima Rescue Mission or WTGN 97.7, Lima. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
