Nettie Ferrall retired from nursing at age 72
Nettie Mae Ferrall, 93, died Jan. 2, 2016 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, where she had been a resident. Nettie was born March 15, 1922, in Pandora to the late Homer and Ella (Badertscher) Basinger.
She graduated from Pandora High School and was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a nursing degree in 1946. On Aug. 28, 1949 she married Rex W. Ferrall who preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2010, after 61 years of marriage.
Nettie’s career in nursing included working at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Richland Manor Nursing Home and Bluffton Hospital retiring at the age of 72. She was an active and faithful member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton.
Survivors also include three daughters and one son; Vickie (Richard) Little of Clarkston, Michigan, Nancy Ferrall of South Bend, Ind., Cathy (Bill) Stewart of Findlay, Michael (Sharyl) Ferrall of Chickaloon, Alaska; six grandchildren Matthew (Lisa) Little, Michael (Nikki) Little, Nathan (Trisha) Christman, Sarah (Travis) Ametrano, Jason Ferrall, Jennifer (Ted) Dumas, 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four sisters, Elnora Stratton of Bluffton, Odula Greenawalt of Bellevue, Mich., Eileen (Maurice) Garmatter of Bluffton, Mary Lou (Robert) Emans of Luckey, Ohio, and one brother, Wallace Basinger of Pandora.
Nettie was preceded in death by a son, Richard Ferrall, three brothers, Earl Basinger, Ralph Basinger, Harold Basinger; two infant brothers, and two sisters, Josephine Firestine and Helen Scoles.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton.
Pastor Jeremy Mann and William Herr officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton following the service. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ or Mennonite Memorial Home.
