Recker named HCAC Player of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton senior Thayne Recker (Arlington) has been named the Heartland Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. Recker was a three-time HCAC Player of the Week in 2014-15 en route to being named First Team All-Heartland Conference last season.
Senior center Thayne Recker helped the Beavers to a 2-1 record over the holiday break. The punishing post scored 22 points with 10 rebounds in a 77-55 win over Washington & Jefferson in the opening game of the McDonald’s of Bluffton Holiday Tournament. Recker added 34 points and seven rebounds in a 91-71 loss to Hiram in the title game, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team. In Saturday’s 74-68 win at Franklin, Recker netted 24 points with nine rebounds to lead the Beavers.
For the week, the senior averaged 26.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 28-for-48 (58.3 percent) from the field. Bluffton
(8-3, 3-1 HCAC) will play host to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and close the week with a road game at Anderson Saturday. Click on the Live Stats link to follow the action with the Lions at 7:30 PM on Wednesday night.
