Senior Citizens 2016 trip schedule includes Pennsylvania, Alaska, the Yukon plus lots of one-day trips
The Bluffton Senior Center has a full line up of trips schedule for 2016, including Pennsylvania, Alaska and the Yukon, and Roscoe Village, according to Tonya Meyer, Center director.
On June 8 and 9, the motor coach will head out of town to go on an overnight trip to Coshocton to visit Roscoe Village. The trip will include a canal boat ride and three meals as well as overnight accommodations.
"July 10 to 15, we will head for Pennsylvania Amishlands and the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. The group will see 'Samson' at the Millennium Theatre and will take a guided tour of the Amish countryside, said Meyer.
The trip includes a cruise on the Susquehanna River and a wagon tour of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Also included is five nights lodging, five breakfasts, five dinners, Hershey’s Chocolate World, Kitchen Kettle Village, Taber Museum, Mifflinburg Buggy Museum, Historic Lewisburg Tour and much more.
Aug. 2 to 15, the Bluffton Senior Center group will head to Alaska and the Yukon on an awesome adventure.
Myer said, "The trip starts in Bluffton where a motor coach will take us to the airport. We fly to Seattle and meet our tour guide who will be with us the rest of the trip. The next day, we board a cruise ship in Vancouver. The ship will be home for three days. We will visit Juneau and depart the ship in Skagway.
"We will climb the White Pass Trail on an old-fashioned train and continue on into Canada. We will visit Whitehorse and Dawson City before flying back to Alaska.
"In Fairbanks, we will cruise the Chena River and visit the Museum of the North and the Alaska pipeline. Then it is on to Denali National Park for two days of wilderness fun.
"We finish our visit to Alaska with a cruise of Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park. A passport is needed for this trip."
There are also many day trips planned for those who do not want to pack a suitcase.
Those trips include a visit LaComedia Dinner Theater three times in 2016:
• March 17 to see “Fiddler on the Roof”
• May 12 to see “Grease”
• Dec. 16 to see “A Christmas Carol”
Trips are also planned t0 the Der Dutchman in Plain City three times:
• April 26 to see Floyd Cramer’s grandson Jason on the piano,
• July 7 to see Ron Retzer “On Top of the World”
• Dec. 1 for Ron Retzer’s Christmas program
On June 13, is a trip to the Villa Milano in Columbus to see the Lennon Sisters. Still in the works is a train trip through the Cuyahoga National Park, a Mystery trip and more.
