Bluffton art prof featured in ONU exhibit
Bluffton University art faculty member Philip Sugden’s installation, A Page from the Manual on Dismantling God, is currently on view in the Elzay Gallery of Art at Ohio Northern University. Sugden is an assistant professor of art at Bluffton.
Some pieces within this exhibit are based on location drawings, which Sugden completed during 12 journeys in the Himalayas of India, Nepal and Tibet.
The text not only incorporates current, ancient, and sacred languages, but also offers passages from the Dead Sea Scrolls, Old and New Testaments, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Buddhist texts and unified field theory.
Sudgen spoke about his work and his travels throughout Asia on Jan. 22. This free event was made possible by the committee on Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
The exhibit is on at the Elzay Gallery of Art, on the ONU campus, now through Feb. 26. The gallery is open daily from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The gallery is free and open to the public.
