SHANNON Service Club and Senior Center launch 2016 garage sale season
S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club and the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center launch the 2016 Bluffton garage sale season at the end of February. There's even a chicken barbecue tossed in. Here are the details:
Senior Citizens Center - 132 N. Main St.
• Thursday, Feb. 23, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Friday, Feb. 24, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 25, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tonya Meyers, Center director, explains it this way: "The Bluffton Senior Center collects donations from its members and people in the community and then holds a large garage sale once a year as a fundraiser.
"Things collected include household items and collectables as many of the members are downsizing. There’s no clothing or shoes but you will find toys, games, athletic equipment and craft supplies as well as kitchen wares and bed and bath items.
Admission is free and all proceeds stay at the Bluffton Senior Center.
S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club - at The Centre, 601 N. Main St.
• Friday, Feb. 24 - chicken barbecue (eat in or take out) 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Tickets $8.50 must be purchased in advance
• Friday, Feb. 24 - community craft and garage sale, 4:30 to 8 p.m.
• Saturday, Feb. 25, community craft and garage sale, 9 a.m. to noon
Admission to the sale is $1 with children 12 and under free. Admission is free with a barbecue ticket.
Here's how Duane Bollenbacher of the club describes the event: "The barbecue is eat-in or carry-out (delivered to your car). It is provided by Ted's Market, Pandora. Tickets are on sale at available at Greg's Pharmacy, Senior Citizen Center, Polished, any S.H.A.N.N.O.N. member, or call Bollenbachers at 419-358-7365.
"The barbecue includes one-half chicken, baked potato, green beans, and roll with butter.
"A barbecue ticket gives you free admission to the garage sale. All proceeds used locally for needy, youth, and elderly.
"S.H.A.N.N.O.N. stands for Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors. Booths are rented to individual sellers at The Centre, so items in the sale very depending on the sellers.
"Call 419-358-7365 for ticket or booth information. All proceeds go toward projects in the Bluffton community."
