Betty Jo Hughes Carmean 1923-2016
Betty Jo Hughes Carmean, 92, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at 9:40 p.m. at her residence in Lima, Ohio.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1923, in Lima, Ohio, to Rush and Ruth (Gossard) Hughes who preceded her in death. On Dec. 5, 1945, she married Eugene Carmean, Sr., who preceded her in death on March 8, 1979.
Betty Jo was a homemaker. She previously worked at Lima Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Lima First Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by two sons: Vaughn Ray Carmean of Lima and Dwaine Clay Carmean of Lima; a daughter, Valerie Kay(Traci) Rogers of Bluffton; 13 grandchildren, 21 great Grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers: Conrad (Rhonda) Hughes of Kenton and Donny (Connie Lou) Hughes of Bellefontaine.
She was preceded in death by two sons: infant son Eugene Carmean, Jr. and Steven J. Carmean; and a brother, Dennis Hughes.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, at Assembly of God Church, Alger with Pastor Randy Davis and Pastor Mark Andreasen officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
