Marcia Vermillion sang with Sweet Adelines
Marcia E. Vermillion, 82, died on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at her residence in LaFayette.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1933, in Camden, N.J .to Gerald and Helen (Hawkins) Connor who preceded her in death. On May 25, 1952, she married James L. Vermillion and he died on Aug. 28, 2013.
Marcia was a homemaker and previously worked at the LaFayette Elevator for many years. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at LaFayette Congregational Christian Church. Marcia sang in the Sweet Adelines and a Gospel Trio for many years. She was a graduate of LaFayette-Jackson High School class of 1951.
She is survived by her son and three daughters: Jeffrey (Dena) Vermillion of Wellington, Jamie (Gary) Ward, Melanie (Brad) Winegardner and Erin Vermillion all of LaFayette; nine grandchildren: Robert (Hanna) Vermillion, Brandon (Deanna) Jordan, Justin (Susi) Vermillion, Tyler (Natalie) Winegardner, Seth (Rachel) Vermillion, Ashlie (Shane Werk) Winegardner, Michaela Ward, Hannah (Kurtis) Klingaman and Jessica Ward; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Diane) Connor and Patrick (Carole) Conner both of LaFayette; and three sisters: Colleen (Howard) Schick of Ada, Sharon (Jack) Wickham of Bluffton and Laura (Larry) Smith of LaFayette.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.on Wednesday, March 2, at LaFayette Congregational Christian Church at 205 W. Main St., LaFayette, with Pastor Charles Moeller officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery, LaFayette.
Friends may call 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the LaFayette Congregational Christian Church at 205 West Main Street, LaFayette, Ohio 45854 and/or Special Olympics Ohio at 3303 Winchester Road, Columbus, Ohio 43232.
