Mary Core Geiger graduated from Columbus Grove HS in 1944
Mary Allene Core Geiger, 89, of Pandora died at 7:15 pm Feb. 26, 2016, at the Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. Mary was born Sept. 3, 1926 in Pleasant Township in Putnam County to the late Raymond V. Core and Eva Esther (Smith) Core. On Dec.15, 1945 she married Francis C. Geiger who survives.
She grew up on a farm near Columbus Grove and graduated from Columbus Grove High School in 1944.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Geiger Bros. Trucking, a company they owned and operated for many years. Mary loved her family, enjoyed her flower gardens and being a homemaker with a love of baking pies. She also enjoyed traveling in their Airstream into 48 states, Canada and Mexico.
Surviving are a son, Bob (Dianna) Geiger of rural Ottawa and a daughter, Phyllis (Terry) Ginther of rural Leipsic. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and a great granddaughter.
A services celebrating Mary’s life will begin at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastors Dennis and Diane Schmidt will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Mennonite Church or Hilty Memorial Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.chiles-lamanfh.com
