Mary Ann Sullivan delivers two illustrated lectures on artists

Mary Ann Sullivan, Professor Emerita Bluffton University, will deliver two illustrated lectures on prominent American artists in the new series:
• Jeff Koons will be the subject of the Wednesday, March 16 lecture
• Cindy Sherman will be featured on March 23.

Koons is one of the most controversial artists in the world today; his work, Balloon Dog (Orange) recently sold for $58,400,000, the highest auction price in history for any living artist.

Sherman is the winner of a MacArthur “genius” grant; her photograph, Untitled 96, was bought at auction in 2011 for $3.89 million, making it the most expensive photograph ever sold; one of five copies currently hangs in the Chicago Art Institute.

Additionally, her works are often a locus of feminist art criticism and she is frequently credited with the invention of the selfie.

Admission to each Soup and Salad Lecture is $20 for ArtSpace members/$25. for non-members.  Registrations will be accepted in person at ArtSpace, by mail via USPS or online at http://www.artspacelima.com/index.html.
