James Badertscher, 82, was a Bluffton High School graduate
James "Jim" Dean Badertscher, 82, died April 8, 2016, at 2:15 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Jim was born July 17, 1933, in Bluffton to the late Edwin and Mae (Murray) Badertscher. On July 18, 1959, he married Ruth Hankish Badertscher who survives.
Jim retired from Lima Ford Engine Plant after 20 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church both of Bluffton. Jim was a member of American Legion Post #382, Bluffton, graduated from Bluffton High School, attended Bluffton College and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors also include a brother, Robert G. (Ann) Badertscher of Bluffton, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Badertscher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday April 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton. Father John Stites officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton following the service.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, St. Mary's Catholic Church or Mennonite Memorial Home.
