Bluffton post office offers "passport fair" Tuesday from 10 to 2
Bluffton post office will hold a passbook fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, at the post office, 132 S. Main St.
Persons needing passports will be able to submit paperwork for a U.S. passport. No prior appointment is needed at this time.
The post office asks persons to bring the following information when applying for the passport:
• Valid state-issued photo identification (not one issued by a hospital)
• Original birth certificate issued by registrar’s office
• Check for $110 made out to the Department of State (Money orders may be purchased at the post office)
The post office will also have all forms needed for passports. Photos will be taken at the post office and there is a $15 fee. There is also a $25 processing fee, which may be paid with cash, check or credit card.
The total cost for a passport including photo and processing fee is $150 ($151.25 if money order is purchased.)
The average turnaround time for a passport is four to six weeks.
