Francis Geiger owned and operated Geiger Brothers Trucking, Pandora
Francis Carl Geiger, 95, died May 12, 2016, at 7:30 a.m. at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. Francis was born March 8, 1921, in Pandora to the late Grover and Corinna (Suter) Geiger. On Dec. 15, 1945 he married Mary (Core) Geiger who preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2016.
After graduating from Pandora High School, Francis entered the Army Air Force where he was honorably discharged on Nov. 17, 1945, after 39 months of service as a Corporal serving in World War II. He lived in Pandora his entire life. He owned and operated Geiger Bros., Inc. Trucking Company for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling in their Airstream around the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Survivors include a son, Bob (Dianna) Geiger of rural Ottawa; a daughter, Phyllis (Terry) Ginther of rural Leipsic; six grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Wanita (Willard) Cornwell of Arlington; two brothers, Paul (Mary Beth) Geiger of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Grover Geiger of Pandora.
Francis was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Neiswander, and an infant brother, John David Geiger.
A service celebrating Francis' life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday May 16, 2016 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Dennis and Dianne Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora following the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grace Mennonite Church or Hilty Memorial Home.
