Lucille Bucher was a retired Mennonite Memorial Home nurse
Lucille Bucher, 94, died May 24, 2016, at 6:10 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Lucille was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Pandora to the late Albert and Sarah (Hilty) Burry. On Feb. 19, 1942, she married Victor Bucher who preceded her in death on June 11, 2006.
Lucille was a licensed practical nurse at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton from 1961 - 1973. She volunteered at many places including her church, the Et Cetera Shop, Mennonite Memorial Home and Maple Crest. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing comforter tops for missions and playing pinochle and many other card games. Lucille was a member of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora, and graduate of Pandora High School.
Survivors include six children, Richard (Gloria) Bucher of Bluffton, Norma Sommer of Bluffton, Nolan (Linda) Bucher of Elkhart, Ind., Nancy Carney of Pataskala, Ohio, Corinne (Dave) Lee of Bluffton, Gloria (Jan) Wiechart of Wapakoneta; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Pepple of Cridersville, Ohio.
Lucille was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Bucher; six siblings Melvina Neuenschwander, Ben Burry, Vilas Burry, Elnora Rayle, Margaret Basinger, Elvina Burkholder; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bucher; and two sons-in-law, Nick Carney and Frank Young.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 27, at Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora following the service. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Memorial Home or Maple Crest.
