You know that you are no longer in Bluffton, Ohio, when the “Bluffton Bobcats” appear on your computer screen.

When that happens you are suddenly in South Carolina.

The Icon knows this because we frequently receive phone calls from persons wanting to know things about Bluffton that, don’t sound like Bluffton, Ohio, questions.

Rather, they sound more like…well here’s some examples:

• One caller recently wanted to know about that great bike ride we hold along the beach. We referred the caller to South Carolina.

• Through an email, a real estate agent inquired about advertising prices on the Bluffton Icon. The agent was from Bluffton, South Carolina.

• To make this more interesting – or confusing – Bluffton, South Carolina’s arts and crafts show is the exact weekend of Bluffton, Ohio’s arts and crafts show.

• Yes, we’ve received out-of-state phone calls inquiring about getting a booth. One came from Atlanta, Georgia. You guessed it. The caller called the wrong state.

• At one Bluffton, Ohio, arts and crafts show, the cell phone rang and the caller asked, “Where is your arts and crafts show?”

Thinking that the caller might be a soccer mom attending the Bluffton soccer tournament games at Bluffton University, our rely was, “Where are you now?”

Her answer: “Hilton Head.”
